Who we are
Williams Conservation Surveying is a specialist practice based in Manchester providing a comprehensive range of surveying and consultancy services across the UK. Led by Matthew Williams, a conservation-accredited chartered building surveyor with extensive expertise in the care and management of historic buildings, the practice delivers authoritative advice across a wide range of disciplines, including ecclesiastical surveying, heritage consultancy, and cladding fire safety. We work with both residential and commercial clients within the built environment.
Our practice is known for producing detailed condition surveys of listed and historic buildings, offering valuable insights for pre-purchase assessments, development appraisals, and long-term maintenance planning. Matthew’s in-depth knowledge of traditional building techniques and conservation principles ensures a sensitive, informed approach to managing heritage assets throughout the development process.
A distinct area of our expertise is cladding fire safety—a critical consideration in today’s built environment. We provide specialist consultancy on cladding, including production of EWS1 forms and PAS 9980 compliant FRAEWs, and regulatory compliance, helping property owners navigate evolving standards while safeguarding the historic and architectural significance of buildings. We deliver clear, practical guidance in line with the latest legislation and best practice.
